The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Tuesday embarked on a one-day working visit to the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) headquarters, in Lokoja, to commission some projects executed by the authority.

The Supreme Court has affirmed that the control of activities on the nation’s inland waterways, including levying and licensing operators in the sector, belongs exclusively to the Federal Government through National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

The 8th Managing Director/CEO of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Alh. Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji assumed duty at the Authority’s Headquarters today the 30th of October 2023 in Lokoja, Kogi state.

In response to incessant boat mishaps on the Lagos inland waterways, the managing director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Dr George Moghalu, has approved the deployment of new ambulance boat to the Lagos area office.
